One of the most common things people say during an Automatic Writing workshop is:
“But what if this is just my mind talking?”
And honestly?
That is a very intelligent question.
Because most people assume that if spirit guides or higher consciousness were communicating with them, they would hear some dramatic “third voice” booming from the sky, completely separate from their own inner voice.
But spirituality rarely works like cinema.
In reality, guidance often comes quietly.
Subtly.
Through intuition.
Through knowing.
Through writing.
Through thoughts that carry a different energy than ordinary mental noise.
And yes — in the beginning, it often feels like your own mind.
So let us clear this confusion honestly.
Quick Read – Why is Spirituality the Need of the Hour?
1. Spirit Guides Usually Speak Through Your Existing Inner Voice
Unless someone is strongly clairaudient (which means hearing energies externally very clearly), most spiritual guidance comes through the same mental channel through which you already process thoughts.
This means:
the guidance may “sound” like your own voice internally.
And this confuses people.
Because they expect spirituality to feel completely separate from themselves.
But think about it logically:
if consciousness, intuition, spirit guides, or divine intelligence are trying to communicate with you, they are most likely going to use the inner system you already have access to.
The difference is not always in the sound of the voice.
The difference is in:
- the energy of the message
- the clarity of the message
- the emotional neutrality of the message
- the wisdom within the message
- and often, the fact that the guidance tells you something your ego did not want to hear
In fact, many people are shocked because true guidance is often calmer and wiser than their emotional mind.
Your fearful mind says:
“What if everything goes wrong?”
Guidance often says:
“You already know what needs to change.”
Your anxious mind spirals.
Guidance simplifies.
Your ego reacts.
Guidance observes.
That distinction becomes clearer with practice.
2. Sometimes What You Call “Your Mind” Is Actually Guidance You Never Learned to Trust
This is where things become deeper.
Many people have been receiving intuitive guidance for years without realizing it.
You may have repeatedly felt:
- This relationship is not right
- this job is draining me
- I should not make this decision
- something feels energetically off
- I need to leave this situation
- I need rest
- I need to change direction
But because modern life trains us to trust logic more than intuition, we dismiss these feelings as:
“overthinking”
“fear”
“my imagination”
“my mind talking”
And sometimes, yes, fear does speak.
But sometimes your soul has been trying to guide you for years.
Automatic Writing does not “create” intuition.
It teaches you how to filter.
It teaches you:
- what fear feels like
- what ego sounds like
- what trauma sounds like
- what true guidance feels like
This discernment is the real spiritual work.
Because spirituality is not about blindly believing every thought.
It is about becoming conscious enough to recognize energetic difference.
And over time, people begin noticing something fascinating:
real guidance usually creates clarity, grounding, and responsibility —
not panic, obsession, or emotional chaos.
3. Stop Using Automatic Writing Only to Recycle Confusion
One of the biggest mistakes people make is repeatedly asking the same emotionally looping questions:
“Does he love me?”
“Will this happen?”
“Why did this happen?”
“What if I fail?”
“Why am I like this?”
And then they become trapped in mental repetition.
Automatic Writing works best when you stop using it only to emotionally recycle the past and begin using it as a spiritual GPS for the future.
Ask:
- What am I meant to learn here?
- What pattern must I break?
- How do I move forward consciously?
- What is my next aligned step?
- How do I become emotionally stronger?
- What is life trying to teach me?
The quality of your questions changes the quality of your guidance.
So… Is It Real?
The truth is:
you do not need blind belief.
You need experience.
Over time, people practicing Automatic Writing often begin noticing:
- repeated accuracy
- emotional clarity
- intuitive improvement
- inner peace
- guidance they could not have “planned”
- insights beyond their ordinary thinking
And perhaps most importantly:
they begin trusting themselves again.
Maybe the real question is not:
“Is it my mind talking?”

Maybe the real question is:
“What if consciousness has always been trying to guide me… and I simply never learned how to listen properly?”
Because sometimes the soul does not speak loudly.
Sometimes it whispers quietly beneath the noise of the mind,
waiting for you to finally become still enough to hear it.
