This month full moon falls on 19th November, also called Kartik Purnima which is traditionally believed to be one of the most auspicious full moon of the year. The unique thing about this full moon is that it marks the beginning of the eclipse season.

 

This full moon falling on 19th November is very potent, it’s bringing a slew of significant discoveries, endings, and fate twists. As a result, it is an excellent moment to let go of control and be open to change, even if it’s uncomfortable. Everyone will experience the eclipse differently.

 

The Hindu calendar’s Purnima Tithi, or Full Moon Day, is very important. It is considered auspicious for a variety of reasons and is frequently used for the Satyanarayan Puja.

 

Devotees observe twelve Purnima Tithis because an annual Hindu calendar is made up of twelve lunar months (consisting of two Moon fortnights). Each one has its own name and meaning.

 

About kartik poornima:

Kartik Poornima is also known by the name of Tripuri Purnima and Dev Diwali.  Although Tripurari is the origin of the name ‘Tripuri Purnima.’

 

Tripurari is the name given to Lord Shiva when he killed Tripurasura. According to the Puranas,  Lord Shiva took the incarnation  Tripurakanta and killed Tripurasura on this day.

 

Tripurasura conquered the entire universe after defeating all Gods. Apart from that, he developed three space cities named ‘Tripura.’

 

Tripurasura was killed by Lord Shiva, who came to the relief of the Gods. Aside from that, he demolished Tripura with a single arrow and declared the day to be a festival of illuminations. This day is also known as Dev Diwali or God’s Diwali.

 

Apart from that, Kartik Purnima is also the birthday of Matsya, Lord Vishnu’s fish incarnation. Also it is the birthday of Vrinda, goddess associated with the Tulsi plant. Kartikeya, Lord Shiva’s son and the God of War, was also born on this day.

 

Prabodhini Ekadashi is related with the day of Kartik Purnima. On the last day of Prabodhini Ekadashi, Chaturmas, Lord Vishnu’s four-month sleep, comes to a conclusion.

 

 

Tulsi vivah

 

The last day of Tulsi Vivah, which begins with Prabodhini Ekadashi, is Kartik Purnima. Devotees take a spiritual bath at a sacred water body during Kartik Poornima.

 

This bath, known as ‘Kartik Snaan,’ is considered the most auspicious bath of the year. This bath is taken at the day’s sunrise and moonrise. Devotees pay respect to the Creator in the evening after taking a moonrise bath.

It is believed that worshipping LaxmiNarayan on Kartik Purnima opens up the door for wealth and abundance. Worship Lord Vishnu and Goddess Mahalaxmi by offering Milk and Kesar in a Dakshinavarti Shankha.

 

Chant Laxmi Narayan mantra. It is said that both Mahalaxmi and Lord Vishnu are pleased with this Pooja and they bless devotees with health, wealth and abundance.

Rituals to follow on Kartik Purnima: 

 

• It is considered auspicious to have a bath in natural sources of water like rivers, ponds and wells. Although, Lord Vishnu blesses those who do this bathing ritual on this day. 
• Do Surya Namaskar on this day and offer Arghya to Lord Sun.
• According to beliefs, if you do charity on this day then you will be blessed by the blessings of Goddess Mahalaxmi. Offer grains, milk, fruits, rice, sesame seeds (til) and Aanwla (Indian Gooseberry on this day as ‘Daan’.
• According to beliefs, it is advised that one should give clothes or money as Dakshina to Brahmins, Sisters and Bua (paternal aunt).
• To get the blessings of Moon God (Chandra Devta), offer Arghya using raw milk, rice and sugar. 
• To get the blessings of Goddess Mahalaxmi you can offer sweet milk to Peepal Tree. 

• Avoid eating Tamsik food like Meat, Eggs, Onions, Garlic, Alcohol etc. 
• On this day it is advised to sleep on the floor. 
• Avoid any kind of disputes or conflicts at home.
